When is the next Memorial Day?
The next U.S. Memorial Day is Monday, May 31, 2027. In 2026 it fell on May 25. For 2027 plans, the holiday weekend runs from Saturday, May 29 through Monday, May 31.
How the date is set
Memorial Day is the last Monday in May. Start at May 31 and move backward to the first Monday you encounter, including May 31 itself. That puts the holiday between May 25 and May 31 every year. In a May with five Mondays, it falls on the fifth.
Memorial Day and Veterans Day
Memorial Day honors people who died in U.S. military service. Veterans Day honors those who served and falls on November 11. Federal observance of Veterans Day may shift when November 11 lands on a weekend. Memorial Day already falls on a Monday.
