What Time Is It in Japan? JST and U.S. Time Differences

Check the current time in Japan

Japan uses Japan Standard Time, UTC+9, throughout the country. Tokyo, Osaka, and Sapporo all show the same local time. For the current hour and minute, open NICT’s official clock.

Convert from New York or Dallas

Add 13 hours to New York time during daylight saving time and 14 during standard time. From Dallas, add 14 during daylight saving time and 15 during standard time. The difference changes because the U.S. cities switch their clocks and Japan stays on JST.

Convert from New York or Dallas. Dallas +14 or +15 hr

Convert from Los Angeles

Add 16 hours from Los Angeles during daylight saving time or 17 during standard time. For example, 4 p.m. Monday in Los Angeles during daylight saving time is 8 a.m. Tuesday in Japan. The same Los Angeles time during standard time is 9 a.m. Tuesday in Japan.

Include both dates in a meeting invite

During U.S. standard time, Monday at 6 p.m. in Dallas is Tuesday at 9 a.m. in Tokyo. Put both days and time zones in the invitation, or use the calendar’s named time zones. A recurring meeting anchored to Dallas time can shift by an hour on the Japanese calendar when Dallas changes its clocks.

Include both dates in a meeting invite. Mon 6 PM → Tue 9 AM
